The Songsman Cover
It seems strange to reveal a cover for a book that’s not done, from an author that’s never authored, but it’s pretty motivating. I’m in revision, deep in the fires of Urukkesh, as it were, and having this milestone to celebrate, is a big lift to my sense of purpose. The book now has a face, and a good one, I think at least.
It tells the story of the book all in one picture. I spent a lot of time thinking about the composition and the design. Telling the story of the book and what the reader will experience, was a big focus when creating the artwork. Front and center is the glowing symbol. We don’t know what exactly this means yet, but it’s looming over the town of Riverton in the back ground, just like the danger that’s percolating when our central protagonist enters the town. Delarin, alone and trudging into town, is sitting below the symbol and you the viewer, are following him into this.
I think this will be the idea of all the covers of Fire, Song and Storm. You, the reader, following the protagonist into what will unfold through the story and take you to the riveting conclusion. Most covers have the main character front and center, facing the viewer in an epic pose with cool weapons. That’s great, but I’d rather push you along into the story with them. Either way, I hope you enjoy the journey as much as I have and that you’ll be right there with the characters as they, too, make their way through the trials and tribulations they will face in Fire, Song and Storm.
I present the cover of The Songsman. Enjoy!
